The History of SWA Safaris

In  2019, SWA Safaris celebrated its 65th anniversary thus making it the most experienced family owned tour operator in Namibia.  The company was founded in 1954, and in those memorable years, we were pioneers of tourism in our country.

One of those pioneers was Uwe Sentefol, who took over SWA Safaris in 1974 and was the heart of the company. Today his son, Wilfried Sentefol and his granddaughter, Tanja Sentefol, have teamed up at the helm of the oldest tour operating business in Namibia.

In the beginning, SWA Safaris started with camping safaris, in trucks which had been converted to carry passengers, due to lack of accommodation.
Today, tourists travel in comfortable modern coaches. We wish to make it clear that these are not luxury buses, but are Volkswagen Microbuses, MAN buses larger Mercedes buses with air-conditioners and windows that can be opened, perfect for taking photos.

The buses are specially constructed for our local roads which are mostly gravel roads. The seating is comfortable and spacious. Overnight stops take place at the best hotels, lodges and rest camps available.
Our tour guides are also the drivers and all of them speak English and German. They will do their best to show you our beautiful country where the magic heartbeat of Africa is just a stone's throw away from rich heritage of architecture dating back from the German era.

We are looking forward to taking you on a breathtaking adventure and captivating you with Namibia's true beauty.
