Proposed Self-drive tour: 21 days / 20 nights
Day 1:
Arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek. Collect your vehicle and drive to your hotel in Windhoek (approx.42 km).
At the reception all necessary vouchers for your tour through Namibia will
be available.
After checking in at your hotel, you can explore the city either on foot or
by car. Admire the many colonial buildings dating back to the German occupation, e.g. the Ink Palace, which is the historic seat of the government, the white-walled "Alte Feste" which was once a fort and now a museum, and the Christuskirche with its graceful spire, which provides the city with a striking landmark reflecting the history of the country. In addition, three German-style castles add a romantic touch to the city.

Day 2:
Your journey takes you in a southerly direction. Drive via Rehoboth, Rietoog and Büllsport to A Little Sossus Lodge (± 350 km). In the afternoon you can take part on a scenic-drive.

Day 3:
Take part in an excursion into the famous Sossusvlei, a huge clay pan, which is surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world. You will have the opportunity to ascend one of these huge dunes, an effort well worth it. Enjoy your breakfast pack en route. Return to the lodge and proceed to your next destination, Rostock Ritz Desert Lodge (approx. 145 km north). (You can also take your car along and park it at Sesriem).

Day 4:
After breakfast depart to your next destination, the coastal town of Swakopmund. Your journey takes you via the Gaub and Kuiseb Passes, and further to Walvis Bay, which is the only deep-sea harbour in Namibia. Pay a visit to the lagoon, a bird paradise where thousands of flamingos can be seen. Proceed to Swakopmund along the coast for approximately another 35 km. (approx. 350 km).
Swakopmund, Namibia's seaside resort on the west coast, which resembles a small Bavarian village nestling between the desert and the sea. The source of Swakopmund's atmosphere is the graceful old buildings dating back to the turn of the century. The local jail, for example, resembles a country mansion. The railway station, a magnificently ornate building, was converted into a hotel. Eleven of these charming old buildings are national monuments.
Other sightseeing options: Visit the museum, the Aquarium, the crystal gallery or visit the Karakul weaving.

Day 5:
Enjoy this day at the coast.
Optional:
Dolphin Cruise: which starts from the Walvis Bay Yacht Club, takes
you through the harbour and lagoon area. If in luck, dolphins may be observed swimming alongside the boat. Seals and a myriad of sea birds can also be observed. On board the boat you will be treated to South African champagne or soft drinks, fresh oysters and snacks. This activity should be booked in advance.

Optional:
Sailing excursion aboard a catamaran. Departure at 08h30 from the Walvis Bay Yacht Club. We set sail for Pelican Point, where a large seal colony and playful dolphins will entertain you. The trip is rounded off with fresh oysters, snacks and sparkling wine. The cruise last between 2 ½ - 3 hours. This activity should be booked in advance.
Optional:
Pick up at your hotel. Start of your half-day tour into the Namib
Desert, the Moon Valley and the Welwitschia mirabilis plain.

Day 6:
Today you take the B 2 via Usakos and Karibib, where you turn to your right in the direction of Omaruru (C 33), from there you continue on the C 33 till Otjiwarongo, turn onto the B 1 and drive in a northerly direction to Otavi.Turn left into the C 39 direction Outjo and after some kilometers turn right into the D 3031 and after another 10 km you reach the farm.
The lodge offers guided walks, adventurous game drives and relaxation at the pool.

Day 8:
Today you drive back to Otavi.On the B 8 you drive via Kombat and Grootfontein to Rundu. Here you turn-off onto the C 45 in the direction of Nkurunkuru and after approx. 16 km you reach the lodge which is situated on the banks of the Kavango River (approx. 370 km). The lodge offers boat trips, depending on the water level.

Day 9:
Return to the B 8 and drive in an easterly direction till you reach Bagani. The lodge lies 20 km south of Bagani-Bridge near the Popa Falls. There is a possibility to visit the falls or go on a game drive to the nearby Mahango Game Park (approx. 245 km).

Day 10:
Continue on the B 8 in an easterly direction through the Bwabwata National Park to Kongola. From here you drive in a southerly direction and after 24 km you will reach your lodge which is situated on the banks of the Kwando River (approx. 290 km).
The lodge offers boat trips on the Kwando and game drives in the Bwabwata National Park.

Spend the day at leisure at the lodge.

Day 12:
You drive back to Kongola. From there turn into the B 8 via Katima Mulilo to Ngoma-Bridge (border Namibia - Botswana) and continue to Kasane (approx. 230 km).
Your lodge lies on the banks of the Chobe. At 15h00 the boat trip on the Chobe river starts.

Day 13 + 14:
Spend the days at the Chobe Safari Lodge. Each morning game-drive in the Chobe National Park and in the afternoon boat trips on the Chobe River. On day 14 instead of a game-drive and boat trip you can do a day excursion to the Victoria Falls. (Departure in the mornings at 08h00 and arrival back at the lodge about 17h00, no lunch is included and also not the Visa cost and entrance fees to the falls).

Day 15:
Drive on in a southerly direction through Kasane, Forest Reserve-Extension, Kazuma Forest Reserve and Sibuyu Forest Reserve to Nata. In Nata turn-off to your left onto the road to Francistown and reach the Nata Lodge after a few kilometres to your left(approx. 335 km). In the afternoon take part in an excursion to the nearby pan area.

Day 16:
Drive on in a westerly direction and pass Gweta, the Makgadikgadi Pans Nationalpark and the Nxai Pan Park to Maun (approx. 305 km). Leave very early as the arrival in Maun should be in the late morning. Boat transfer to the lodge, which is situated near the most southern point of Chief's Island on the little island Ntswi.

This day is spent with game viewing and bird watching either by Mokoro or on foot.

Day 18:
In the morning return flight to Maun (approx. 20 min.). Get back your car and drive via Toteng, Kuke Gate and D'Kar to Ghanzi (approx. 300 km). In the afternoon it is possible to go on a game-drive or visit the bushmen.

Day 19:
From Ghanzi you continue your journey to the border post Mamuno/Buitepos (Botswana/Namibia) and after approx. 25 km you will reach the Guestfarm Zelda (approx. 230 km). Afternoon possibility for game-drive with Cheetah - and Leopard feeding and a visit to the bushmen.

From Zelda you travel via Gobabis and Witvlei back to Windhoek (approx. 320 km).
