Proposed Self-drive tour: 17 days / 16 nights

Day 1:
Arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport. Collect your vehicle and drive to your hotel in Windhoek (approx.42 km). At the reception all necessary vouchers for your tour through Namibia will be available. View Windhoek's many attractions like the "Alte Feste (old fort) or the "Tintenpalast" (Ink Palace).

Day 2:
Drive via the Khomas Hochland and the Gamsberg Pass through the Namib. Either travel directly via Walvis Bay to Swakopmund or drive via the waterholes Ganab and Hotsas to the Welwitschia Plain and to the 'Moon Valley' (permit required) and continue your journey to Swakopmund.

Day 3:
Spend the day at leisure and make use of this time to discover the coastal town Swakopmund.

Optional:
Dolphin Cruise: which starts from the Walvis Bay Yacht Club, takes you through the harbour and lagoon area. If in luck, dolphins may be observed swimming alongside the boat. Seals and a myriad of sea birds can also be observed. On board the boat you will be treated to South African champagne or soft drinks, fresh oysters and snacks. This activity should be booked in advance. Price on request.

Optional:
Sailing excursion aboard a catamaran. Departure at 08h30 from the Walvis Bay Yacht Club. We set sail for Pelican Point, where a large seal colony and playful dolphins will entertain you. The trip is rounded off with fresh oysters, snacks and sparkling wine. The cruise last between 2 ˝ - 3 hours. This activity should be booked in advance.

Optional:
Pick up at your hotel. Start of your half-day tour into the Namib Desert, the Moon Valley and the Welwitschia mirabilis plain.

Day 4:
In the morning there is still time for relaxation in Swakopmund. Depart Swakopmund in a northerly direction on the C34 towards the small fishing town of Henties Bay. Today an optional excursion which can be included en route is a visit to the Cape Fur Seal Colony at Cape Cross, should you have not taken part in the boat trip in Walvis Bay. (Please note: open only from 10h00). From Henties Bay on the C35 continue in an easterly direction crossing the "Gravel Plains" to Uis.

Day 5:
In the early morning and if you are in good health, you can climb up to the famous "White Lady" which is found in the Tsisab-gorge in Brandberg Mountain Range, under competent leadership venture. Or you can drive directly on the C35 /D2612 and D3214 to Twyfelfontein Lodge. Optional excursion can be conducted to visit the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings.

Day 6:
Drive back to the D2612 and turn-off at the junction to your left into C38, after approx. 43 km change onto road C43, after another 39 km follow the C40 and drive up to the Grootberg Pass. When you reach the top you will see a signboard Grootberg Lodge. Here you park your vehicle and then a 4 x 4 vehicle will take you to the Lodge. The lodge offers various excursions.

Day 7:
You spend the day at Grootberg Lodge. You can choose between the following excursions: Game-drive either mornings or afternoons or full day Rhino tracking (3/4 day), elephant tracking (˝ day) Guided walk on the plateau / guided walk & breakfast.

Day 8 + 9:
Leave early, as you can only drive slowly, and drive via Palmwag and the Joubert Pass to Opuwo. Either spend the days at the Lodge or take part in an optional excursion to the Epupa Falls or take part in another optional excursion to a Himba village (approx. 250 km).

Day 10:
Today your journey continues via Kamanjab to Rustig Toko Lodge, which lies approx. 27 km northwest of Kamanjab on the D2695. Activities offered are guided bush walks, game drives and bird watching. (approx. 270 km)

Day 11:
During the morning depart in an easterly direction on route towards the Etosha National Park and conduct your first game-drive. Your accommodation lies directly in front of the Gate to the National Park, which you have to leave before sunset.

Day 12 + 13:
Enjoy another 2 days of game-viewing in the park. Mushara Lodge, your accommodation for both nights, lies outside the eastern gate of the Park.

Day 14:
Drive in the direction of Tsumeb and turn-off from B1 into D3043, after approx. 20 km turn to your left onto D3031 and reach your new destination. Enjoy the Namibian ranch life atmosphere. The establishment has been designed so that all rooms look out onto a waterhole, which is lit by night. Game species can thus be watched all day and night from either the swimming pool or the room verandas.

Day 15:
Today continue to Waterberg. You drive via Otavi and Otjiwarongo towards Waterberg. The Lodge lies directly at Waterberg. Relax here with hiking onto the adjoining plateau.

Day 16:
After breakfast proceed to Windhoek via the small town of Okahandja.
